Historic Photo Gallery: 1969 to 1982

1969

With limited information on the original nineteenth-century interior, the decision was made by the Haas Community Fund in 1969 to modernize the theatre as opposed to renovating the 1920 interior. The lobbies and auditorium were completely modernized. The historic stage and its rigging were left virtually intact. The theatre re-opened as a performing arts center and hosted a variety of dance, film, music, and theatrical events. Local organizations that appeared in the seventies included the Academy of Vocal Arts, Concerto Soloists, Marlboro Music, Philadanco, Pennsylvania Ballet, Pennsylvania Opera Theatre, and Theatre Arts for Youth.
