Lyricist Alan Jay Lerner (right) and composer Frederick Loewe came together for their first Broadway show with What's Up?, which tried out at the Walnut in the 1943-44 season. It was a moderate success for the pair, who would go on to have major smash hits with shows like Brigadoon, My Fair Lady and Camelot.
