The 2015-2016 Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Season will feature four spectacular musicals including SHREK THE MUSICAL Jr. (October 3 - October 24), ZOMBIE IN LOVE (February 4 February 13), FRECKLEFACE STRAWBERRY THE MUSICAL (March 31 April 16), MISS NELSON HAS A FIELD DAY (June 3 June 5) and Philadelphias favorite holiday tradition, Charles Dickens A CHRISTMAS CAROL (November 28 December 20).
The season begins with a trip to a faraway kingdom for SHREK THE MUSICAL JR.! Shrek the ogre is content to live alone in his swamp until a bunch of fairy tale misfits arrive. In this hilarious musical adventure, he teams up with a wise-cracking donkey to save a feisty princess and a crew of fairy tale creatures. Based on the Oscar-winning film, audiences will enjoy SHREK THE MUSICAL JR. Saturdays, October 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 11:00 am, and Sunday, October 4 at 11:00 am.
Up next is ZOMBIE IN LOVE. All Mortimer the zombie wants is to find a date to Cupids Ball, but all of the girls are totally grossed out by him. Will Mort find someone who likes him just the way he is? Audiences will fall in love with this sidesplitting yet touching musical thats perfect for the entire family Saturday, February 6 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, February 13 at 11:00 am.
Then, FRECKLEFACE STRAWBERRY THE MUSICAL takes the stage. Strawberry is a regular little girl who loves being seven. But, she doesnt love when her friends tease her about her freckles. Through singing, dancing, and a story of friendship, kids discover that you can have big ears or freckles were all different. The lovable characters and songs will fill the Walnut Street Theatre Saturday, April 2 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, April 3 at 11:00 am.
Finally, MISS NELSON HAS A FIELD DAY will have audience cheering for the home team. The Smedley Tornadoes are the worst football team ever. They seem hopeless... until Miss Viola Swamp, the meanest substitute teacher in the whole wide world, shows up. Shell teach the kids that teamwork and determination is all they need to win in this fun-filled musical Saturday, June 4 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, June 5 at 11:00 am.

Walnut Street Theatre is proud to present Philadelphias favorite holiday tradition, Charles Dickens A CHRISTMAS CAROL at 10:30 am on December 4, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18; and 11 am on November 28 and December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20. This musical adaptation follows the heartwarming journey of the bitter, old Ebenezer Scrooge on one remarkable Christmas Eve. With the help of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, old Ebenezer discovers what it truly means to be merry.
